and wait
for my breathing
to warm up this space

these cool covers
shielding me 
from loneliness.

only whenever you are gone
or I am
I understand

how much
you really are.

that it’s your warmth
warming me up in the evenings
that it’s your breathing
lulling me to sleep

I wake up only to look at you:

such a miracle that you’re there
you’re such
a miracle

you probably have no idea
how weighty you feel and 
how lucky I am
to carry that weight

it changes everything,
changing me
into something true.

and I remember
how you laugh
I remember and 
heavens
I still shake
to my fingertips.

sometimes
it’s still like this;
a hole your size in my bed,
the size of a life

and me trying to warm up this room
with the beating of one heart
that I imagine
to be two
