This very special piece was a custom painting for a dear friend. The painting is based on our conversations on life, and on the things and themes that were meaningful to her on this point of her life. I like to think of the shape of the painting as something that represents the sea - water and air - as it’s something that’s relevant to the story behind the piece. My kids immediately commented that “but mom, that’s a wave!” when they saw the painting, and I loved it - it feels so right.

I wanted the painting to have a strong sense of movement; something that flows, rises, breathes, crashes, and builds up again. Isn’t it so with us - we’re like waves, crashing on the shore, retreating, gathering ourselves again - until the rock becomes smooth under our touch.

The golden lines in the painting represent togetherness, us crossing the paths of each other in life. The lines are not smooth but rough, they have gaps, they cross each other - just like life isn’t always easy or uncomplicated. Together they, however, form something beautiful and meaningful, even if the way life moves sometimes seems unexpected or fragile.

I had to add the view to the heavens to this picture too, as it seems that’s what I am currently painting. Sky views. Heaven landscapes. Stars. Clouds. To make myself remember what matters most.

This painting is unnamed; it’s name is in the mind of the person to whom the picture was painted.
