These two little paintings - Star Charts In My Pocket 1 and 2 - are the most textured paintings I have done so far. Endless layers of colour and texture create the almost stained glass like effect; an illusion of light behind a glass.
The interplay of colour reminds me of the space and of nebulae; of planets slowly turning on their routes. While painting I thought of the stars and of star maps, and it fascinated me to think of a star chart as a map in life. Sure, you won’t know exactly where you are if you navigate using a star map. But what if it doesn’t matter that much?
What if life could be an adventure where you don’t always need to know your exact location? What if the direction you’re on matters most - not the speed, not the amount of extra turns on your path…?
What if a star chart in your pocket is all that matters?
